High Expectations and Pedaling Petals

I received a lot of positive feedback on my first bicycle painting during the Alpharetta Arts Streetfest back in May so I decided to paint a couple more.

High Expectations-lr

“High Expectations”

I love all of the bright, bold colors in “High Expectations.” It’s so cheerful and energetic! I did a thick sage green background as a contrast to the red bike to create that sense of energy. (The lighting makes the background colors difficult to see) And who doesn’t love a bright bouquet of flowers? This one will be on display during the Marietta Art in the Park festival taking place over Labor Day weekend.

Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 20 x 24

Biking Beauty

“Pedaling Petals” Acrylic on 18 x 36 canvas

This is a much bigger bicycle painting and it would definitely make a fabulous statement piece! I used the same palette knife technique for the background and a lot of brush on the bike itself to capture some of the finer details. I then went back over the bike with a palette knife in spots to keep the textured effect consistent throughout the painting. I plan to have this piece at the Marietta festival as well.
