Three’s A Crowd

Threes a Crowd-lrI’m not gonna lie – I’m absolutely thrilled with how this painting turned out! These sweet little warblers are little characters! I love that I was able to put some personality into these birds as they are simply resting on a wire. When I showed this painting to my husband he said, “It looks like the one on the left is thinking ‘what are you two doing in MY spot?!” So that inspired the title of this piece, “Three’s a Crowd.”

This painting was created using an impasto method where I mixed modeling paste in with my acrylics. I then applied the thickened paint onto the canvas with palette knives. The painting is finished with a high gloss varnish that further highlights the texture of the piece.
