“Rainy Day Blues” is an original palette knife painting where I worked in varying blues in the abstract raining background and dress to create the main color scheme. I balanced things out with neutrals like gray and brown which builds the base for the bright green umbrella as the main focal point.  I created this piece using an impasto technique where I paint directly onto the canvas with palette knives using thickened acrylic paints. I love the beautiful blends of color, texture and energy this method creates.
