If you follow my Facebook page, you may have read about my moment of insanity when I decided to join Leslie Saeta’s January 30 in 30 challenge. This is where artists from all around the world (over 1,200 for this go around) challenge themselves to paint 30 new paintings in 30 days. Each day between Jan 1st and 31st, artists will go to Leslie’s blog and post their paintings with links to their personal websites or blogs. I work full time in addition to my art so 30 new paintings in 30 days is asking a lot! I knew going into this that 30 new paintings probably wouldn’t happen…but I’m going to try my best. I think this will at least provide a way for me to become more consistent with my painting and try some new things that I may not have done before. And, it’s pretty cool to be part of a larger group of artists working towards a common goal.
I’ve decided to break the 30 paintings (probably more like 20) into several small series. The first series is one of my favorite things to paint – hummingbirds! I have a hummingbird feeder on my back deck and I’m so amazed to watch them throughout the summer. They are just so tiny and quick! Today is Day 6 of the challenge and I’ve just posted the last of this series. Take a look at them below – as of now three are all still available for purchase (click here for purchasing info) so let me know if you are interested in any of the pieces. To see work from other #jan30in30 artists, go to Leslie’s blog.
