I was talking with my dad one afternoon on the way home from work when he asked what my next painting project was going to be. I replied “it’s another rooster”. (Yes, it seems as though I’ve been on a bit of a “farm animal” kick lately). Without skipping a beat, he proceeded to tell me a few off-color jokes about “Brewster the Rooster” (which aren’t quite PC enough to recite here). He finally ended with “you have to name him Brewster”. So, here you have “Brewster the Rooster”.
Although I like the effect of the palette knife from the “Countryside Cockerel“, I wanted to do a rooster painting that was a close-up with more detail. You’ll see that I’ve combined the best of both worlds – this painting has a palette knife background with brush work over the top. I like how the texture effect shows through while maintaining detail of the roosters features.
